Half of taxi drivers do not plan to change cars to localized ones yet

Almost half of the taxi drivers surveyed (48%) do not plan to change their car to a localized one in Russia yet. At the same time, about a third are already eyeing such models. This was announced to Izvestia on August 3 by the Public Council for Taxi Development, which conducted a survey among the finalists of the professional skills competition "The Best Taxi Driver in Russia."

"The survey showed that professional drivers are gradually adapting to new requirements, but when deciding whether to upgrade a car, they take into account not only its compliance with the law, but also the cost of purchase, reliability and costs of further operation," the representatives of the council noted.

It also became known from the survey results that for the majority of participants, passenger transportation is not a temporary part-time job, but a permanent profession. 64% of the respondents named taxi driving as their main job.

Almost three quarters of the finalists (74%) are self—employed. Among the most common cars, the participants named Lada Vesta and Granta, as well as Haval and Hyundai models.

Slow down, slow down: six more models were recommended for taxis

New Russian-made cars have been added to the list of recommended taxis.

On July 28, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation added six models to the list of cars allowed to work in taxis. The updated registry includes the Jetour Dashing, Tenet T4L, Tenet T8, Tenet A8, Omoda C7 and Jeland J6 models for the first time. The list suggests the possibility of regular updates, taking into account the models that will be produced in Russia under the SPIC with commitments to deepen localization.
