Zelensky announced Ukraine's desire to end the conflict by winter
Ukraine will try to end the conflict with Russia before the beginning of winter. This was stated by President of the Republic Vladimir Zelensky at a meeting with the ambassadors on August 3.
"We will try very hard to make this happen before winter, in the fall," the RBC-Ukraine edition quotes Zelensky as saying.
As the Ukrainian leader noted, the diplomats' task is to provide maximum support to the government on the external track in relations with partners. He also clarified that it is impossible to guarantee the timing of Kiev's efforts to achieve peace.
At the same time, Zelensky stressed that Kiev would seek to end the conflict using international pressure on Moscow.
On August 31, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Washington plans to make attempts in the coming weeks to resume negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, which it needs to work on bringing closer. Prior to that, on July 26, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin had already voiced all Russia's proposals on Ukraine and Kiev knew well what to do.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, said that Russia calls on the United States to clarify the situation with the agreements reached at the Anchorage summit before putting forward new ideas for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
