Tour operators told about the biggest expenses of Russians on vacation

Tours costing about 3 million rubles to Turkey are no longer considered the limit for the premium segment and belong to the average level of expensive trips — a family vacation recently cost Russians for two weeks in Kemer. This was announced on August 3 by Aleksan Mkrtchyan, General Director of the Pink Elephant travel agency network, on RBC radio, commenting on the approximate spending of Russians on holidays.

However, according to him, such purchases are isolated and account for less than 0.1% of the total number of tourists from the Russian Federation. At the same time, there are offers worth 100 million, 150 million and 200 million rubles on the market, and trips more expensive than 10 million rubles are usually considered expensive in tourism.

Mkrtchyan noted that about 1% of Russians who go on vacation can afford such trips. One of the most expensive deals of the season was a family trip to Latin America worth about $2 million. Artur Abdyukhanov, head of the press service of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, said that this package included helicopter rides, volcano visits, gastronomic tours and a VIP flight from Moscow on a private jet.

He also said that tourists' preferences have changed inside Russia: the share of beach destinations has increased from 58% to 71%, and interest in city and sightseeing trips has decreased from 42% to 29%. The tourism industry also notes the growing popularity of cruises in the Far East. The cost of cabins on such routes ranges from 380 thousand to 3 million rubles. Sales of foreign tours increased by 8%, and Turkey remains the leader in the number of tourists, followed by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, China, Vietnam and Thailand.

On August 3, the head of the Recreation and Tourism Center, Lucine Kodyakova, said that tourists are increasingly abandoning traditional holidays on hot beaches and choosing cooler destinations due to climate change and rising temperatures in resort regions. The trend was called coolcation — "cool vacation", as the expert noted, Scandinavia and the Baltic countries are of the greatest interest.
