Degtyarev spoke about the quarantine for those who changed their sports citizenship

In the future, legally binding agreements may be introduced between federations and athletes, according to which a change of sports citizenship will lead to quarantine and compensation of state expenses for athlete training. This was announced on August 3 by the Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev.

"When an athlete leaves and changes the flag, the international federation, according to its statutes, imposes quarantine on him. The term varies from two to three, and sometimes up to four years. It is possible to overcome this quarantine only with the consent of the Russian Federation of the relevant sport," Degtyarev said in an interview with Expert magazine.
