Russian military personnel in the Zaporizhia and Kherson directions covered the surrendered militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from drone attacks. This was announced on August 3 by a representative of the underground movement.

"Episodes are regularly recorded in the Zaporizhia and Kherson directions when Russian servicemen take captured Ukrainian soldiers out from under the fire of their own colleagues. It is no secret that there have been cases when Russian fighters literally covered surrendered soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from attacks by Ukrainian FPV drones. Russian fighters are not just saving the lives of those who laid down their arms, our guys are risking themselves to save them," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to a representative of the underground, after being captured, Ukrainian militants receive first aid directly in the area of operations. Russian military personnel and medics are allegedly handing them bandages and painkillers before being evacuated to the rear.

The underground also reported that Russian fighters, whenever possible, help prisoners contact their relatives to inform them about their condition and location. According to the source, relatives of some of the militants are recording video messages thanking them for their help.

Representatives of the underground said that such cases, in their assessment, differ from the actions of the Ukrainian command and drone operators, who destroy their own militants trying to leave their positions or surrender.

Dmitry Badun, a captured militant from the Rubezh brigade, who surrendered to soldiers of the 5th Guards Brigade of the 51st army of the Center group, said on July 26 that the command forced several Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters to return to the town of Belitskoye, liberated by Russian troops, lying that only Ukrainian units were in the city. The prisoner also complained that the command did not explain the situation, but threatened.
