The Moroccan authorities estimated the number of participants crossing the border of the Spanish enclave of Ceuta at 40 thousand people. This was reported on August 2 by the Reuters news agency, citing the country's Interior Ministry.

It is specified that 1,135 people were stopped while trying to enter Melilla, another Spanish enclave.

The Moroccan Ministry's statement also highlights its commitment to combating illegal migration and calls for sharing the burden of managing migration flows.

Cadena SER radio station, citing local authorities, reported on August 2 that the number of Moroccans killed trying to reach Ceuta had increased to 94. A newborn was found among the victims. Currently, employees of the Spanish Ministry of Justice are coordinating the work on the identification of the bodies and their subsequent transportation to their homeland.
