The American congressman reported negotiations on Patriot missiles for Kiev
The United States and Ukraine hold regular closed consultations on issues related to the possibility of transferring American military technologies to Kiev for the organization of local production of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. Mike Turner, Chairman of the Intelligence Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, announced this on CBS on August 2.
"I believe that negotiations are underway to provide Ukraine with broader opportunities to have access to Patriot technologies so that it can establish production and master defense technologies," he said.
The congressman stated that the negotiation process between the defense ministries of the two countries is still ongoing and is in an active phase. At the same time, Turner separately stressed that the final resolution of related legal, technical and logistical issues related to the transfer of secret American air defense technologies to the conflict zone is, in practice, an extremely difficult task for Washington.
Zelensky said on July 28 that at a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, he asked him to urgently provide Kiev with 300 interceptors for Patriot by winter. He stressed that Kiev needed ammunition "yesterday" to strengthen its air defense capabilities. In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of granting Ukraine licenses for the production of Patriot interceptors.
On July 31, Trump said that the decision on a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense system in Ukraine has not yet been agreed upon and is under discussion, there are many contradictions in it. The head of the White House also said that the Ukrainian leader had asked Washington not only for shells for the Patriot, but also for Tomahawk missiles.
