The expert pointed to Israel's dissatisfaction with the agreement on the disarmament of Hamas

Israel is "absolutely unhappy" with the terms of the agreement reached between the Palestinian Hamas movement and mediators from the "Peace Council" of US President Donald Trump. This opinion was expressed on August 2 by the former Consul General of Israel in Washington, Alon Pinkas.

"Israel finds itself in a situation where the president of the United States declares that there is an agreement, but in fact there is not, so I am extremely skeptical that this will work," Pinkas told Al Jazeera.

The former diplomat called the agreement with Hamas a "colossal failure." Pinkas noted that the situation in the Gaza Strip could become a political challenge for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming Knesset elections in October 2026.

"Netanyahu will have to smooth over what is happening in Gaza in some way," Pinkas added.
