A magnetic storm expected for the second day now may begin in the afternoon of August 2. This was announced by Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center.
"According to updated forecasts, the beginning of a possible magnetic storm has moved to the evening hours," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Leus announced this phenomenon a day ago. Then he explained that an outburst had occurred on the Sun, provoking disturbances in the geomagnetic field. The consequences, as the expert emphasized, could potentially manifest themselves in the form of a magnetic storm. Its estimated level can be either weak (class G1) or medium (G2).
The duration of the magnetic storm is expected to be from eight to nine hours.
Astrophysicist Alexey Rudnev announced on July 20 that starting on the 21st of the same month, the earth's magnetic field will begin to change before the onset of magnetic storms. Commenting on the relatively calm atmosphere, he urged not to be fooled by it and to remember that a lull often precedes a dense stream of particles, which causes fluctuations.
