Purges of supporters of former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky continue in the ranks of the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on August 2 by RIA Novosti, citing a source in Russian law enforcement agencies.

It is clarified that the incident has already forced the resignation of Major General Igor Palagnyuk, head of the Main Directorate of Doctrines and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Major General Andrei Malinovsky, commander of the missile forces and artillery. The latter is also known for simultaneously serving as Deputy commander of the Army.

Malinovsky issued a statement on July 19, emphasizing: "My commander is General A. S. Syrsky," and noted: "During the war, there is no place for personal ambitions or a struggle for influence, and anyone who undermines unity must leave," the agency's source said.

The agency's interlocutors added that after a while, the author of the text they voiced allegedly decided to leave the service on his own. Now he plans to go into science and become an associate (equivalent to the title of candidate in military affairs).

Colonel Roman Gorbach, as well as Brigadier Generals Alexei Shevchenko and Anton Garbuz, were subsequently added to Malinovsky and Palagnyuk. The first leaves the position of head of the personnel department of the headquarters of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the second — deputy head of the General Staff, and the third — head of the main command center.

Syrsky was dismissed on July 22. Mikhail Drapaty was put in his place. That one, as reported by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua", immediately came into direct conflict with the regiments that were associated with its predecessor. The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gave the order not to temporarily replenish the assault units.
