Armenia may lose over 80% of income from apricot exports without Russia

Armenia risks losing more than 80% of its income from apricot exports without the Russian market. This was reported on August 2 by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the national statistical services.

It is indicated that the supply of Armenian apricots traditionally falls on the period from May to September or October.

At the end of the season in 2025, Armenia received $12.2 million from the export of this fruit. Of this amount, $10.3 million came from Russia — 83.9% of the profit from sales. Other major importers of Armenian apricots include Georgia, Belarus and the United Arab Emirates.

The Russian market is also extremely important for Armenian cheese makers: as estimated by RIA Novosti on July 25, without Russia, Armenia will lose more than 80% of revenues from cheese exports. Last year, Yerevan's income from the supply of cheese to world markets amounted to $16.4 million, of which $13.5 million was the profit from exports to Russia.
