The air cover groups of the Vostok group of forces thwarted an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on August 2 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Calculations of radar stations (radars) during the monitoring of airspace detected the activity of Ukrainian UAVs and transmitted the coordinates of air targets to the air cover groups.

The soldiers quickly moved into position and destroyed the enemy drones before they reached the Russian borders. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the eliminated vehicles include reconnaissance drones of the Gor and Domakh aircraft types, as well as heavy hexacopters Baba-Yaga.

The coordinated actions of the radar crews and air cover groups made it possible to completely neutralize the threat from the air and ensure the safety of the Vostok group units in this area of the special military operation, the defense ministry noted.

On July 31, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the calculations of the air defense of the Vostok group of forces shot down the drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were moving in the direction of objects under their protection in the Zaporozhye region. During the control of the airspace, the military personnel discovered the Ukrainian drones and escorted them, after which the calculations of the Buk anti-aircraft missile systems launched and hit the targets.
