Faten Ben Amar El Azizi, a football player from the Moroccan Maghreb Athletic club, died trying to swim across a stretch of sea and get to the Spanish city of Ceuta. This was reported on August 1 by the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, citing sources.

"She was not looking for fame or adventure," but rather "a better life and a future that she believed was waiting for her on the other side of the border," the Maghreb Athletic club said in a statement.

It is clarified that according to the Spanish authorities, El-Azizi was among the 67 victims of the large-scale crisis, which caused about 60 thousand people to attempt to enter Ceuta through the border with Morocco.

The invasion of refugees was recorded on July 30 in Spain, after which the authorities decided to suspend the operation of the only operating border crossing in the city of Melilla in north Africa. More than 60 thousand illegal immigrants were able to reach Spanish Ceuta. Madrid mobilized the military and police, who began using tear gas against the arrivals. As of August 1, 61 migrants died while trying to cross the border.
