Schneider lost to Pegula in the semifinals of the WTA tournament in Washington
Russian tennis player Diana Schneider lost to American Jessica Pegula in the semifinal match of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Washington. The meeting, which took place on August 1, ended with the victory of the U.S. representative with a score of 7:5, 6:4.
During the match, Schneider made one ace, made two mistakes on serve and used three of the five break opportunities. Pegula scored three aces, made two double faults and made five break points out of eight.
In the next round, Pegula will face the winner of the match between Naomi Osaka from Japan (3) and Alexandra Eala from the Philippines.
Schneider and the American former world number one Venus Williams failed to reach the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Washington. The match ended on July 30 with the score 4:6, 2:6 in favor of the Chinese pair. In the second round of the doubles competition, Schneider and Williams lost to Chinese representatives Tan Qianhui and Xu Yifan. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes. Following the results of the game, the Russian-American duo completed their performance at the tournament with a prize pool of more than $1.6 million.
