A mass demonstration against the militarization of Germany took place in Berlin.
An action against the militarization of the country was held in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate. Footage from the protest site on August 1 was published by Izvestia.
In the footage, the protesters march with posters, German flags and symbols of the dove of peace.
Kristina, a participant in the demonstration, said that she came to the rally because she considers it important to maintain friendly relations with Russia. She clarified that she participates in the rally for the sake of the future of her children and grandchildren and hopes for reconciliation between the countries.
"My mother, who died in Potsdam, survived the war. [She] told me a lot about Russia. <...> And for me these are all important things. I want to at least do something," Kristina emphasized in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Margarita Kostiv.
Another participant of the action, Jutta, said that she did not want future generations to have to face military operations.
"We want peace. I have two grandchildren, boys. Maybe they're next? And why should children or ordinary people go to the front?" she said.
Izvestia reported on July 10 that a protest rally was held in Berlin at the Rheinmetall plant against the militarization of Germany, the production of weapons and wars. The protesters walked down the street with the country's flags and banners.
On July 9, Rheinmetall and its partner MBDA signed a contract worth several hundred million euros with the German military equipment agency for the development of a laser weapon system for the Navy.
