Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov could be dismissed because of his possible plans to participate in a future presidential campaign. This was stated by Ukrainian journalist Vladimir Boyko.

"As for ex-Defense Minister Fedorov, I announced his future resignation a month before Zelensky exposed Misha to the cold. The reason was Fedorov's meeting with those who are called "little pigs" (although grandfather [investor and philanthropist George] Soros has nothing to do with these scammers)," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to Boyko, during the meeting, the possible participation of these representatives in the future presidential campaign of Fedorov was discussed. The journalist does not specify who is meant by "little pigs". However, he believes that after this meeting, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, had information that influenced the decision to dismiss the minister.

"During the meeting, Sorosenkov's participation in Fedorov's future presidential campaign was discussed, <...> toasts were sung in honor of the seventh president of Ukraine, Mikhail Albertovich, etc. It is clear that the room where this meeting was held was filled with microphones, and after [acting head of the SBU Alexander] As long as Zelensky brought the recording, Fedorov's fate was decided," Boyko emphasizes, without specifying the source of such information.

He also commented on reports that the reason for Fedorov's resignation could be the interests of the American company FirePoint in the production of long-range drones. In his opinion, such statements, which were in the material of Ukrayinska Pravda, are "an empty set of sounds."

Fedorov said on July 29 that he retains hope of returning to the leadership, as "the doors are not closed" for him. In his opinion, his resignation is connected with internal resistance in the Ministry of Defense. He explained that the difficulties arose due to the changes he initiated in the public procurement system and the rules of tenders. At the same time, the former official denied the version that the reason for his resignation was a conflict with the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky.
