In the coming weeks, Washington plans to make attempts to resume negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, which it needs to work on bringing closer. This was announced on August 31 by the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"We understand that both sides have quite clear red lines, and until we manage to bring these red lines closer together, we will not achieve the desired result. But we are ready for this," he stated in an interview with Fox News channel.

Now, as Rubio emphasized, the United States is trying through diplomacy to find out about the opportunities available to the Russian and Ukrainian sides to return to the negotiating table.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted back on July 28 that the American side had not deviated from the track of the Ukrainian settlement. According to him, she was just temporarily dealing with her own issues, continuing to contact Moscow to resolve the conflict. Some time later, on August 1, the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodion Miroshnik, said that Washington, by participating in the settlement process, was trying to illustrate that it was "a hegemon."
