The men, who were detained in the Ryazan and Vologda regions on suspicion of treason in favor of Ukraine, were captured right on the streets. The corresponding footage was shown on August 1 by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation.

"In the foreign messengers Telegram and WhatsApp (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation. — Ed.) collaborated with Ukrainian intelligence and planned to emigrate to Ukraine and join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.)," confessed the detainee from the Ryazan region.

He was detained in a parking lot near one of the apartment buildings. When he noticed that the FSB officers were approaching him, he became confused and did not even attempt to escape. Searches were conducted at the place of residence of this Russian.

A Russian from the Vologda region was identified when he went on a bike ride with his friend. The arrest took place at the moment when the young men stopped at the fence of one of the residential buildings.

During the interrogation, the suspect stated that he had been in touch with the Ukrainian side using the Telegram messenger. The interlocutor asked him to commit several acts of vandalism against regional monuments for money, and also tried to persuade him to commit sabotage.

"He offered to set fire to relay cabinets, towers and trains, which I refused. Then he suggested that I look for the perpetrator of the arson of the military enlistment office in Ufa," he said.

The FSB regarded the actions of this resident of the Vologda region as an element not only of information, but also of a war of sabotage.

The arrest of two men in the Ryazan and Vologda regions on suspicion of treason became known on the same day. It was noted that a criminal case was opened against the first, who turned out to be a man born in 1978, in accordance with Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code ("Cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state"), and against the second, who was born in 2001, in accordance with Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("Treason").
