The matches of the International Beach Soccer Cup are being held at the Russian Railways Arena stadium in Moscow. The tournament started on July 30 and will end on August 2.
"We are pleased that in such a difficult time we can check on the young guys, who are making their debut for the national team for the first time. This is a new experience for them, a very big responsibility," said Mikhail Likhachev, head coach of the Russian national beach soccer team, in an interview with Izvestia.
Teams from seven countries are taking part in the competition, including Brazilian Corinthians, Iranian Moghavemat Golsapush, Paraguayan Sportivo Lukeno, Bulgarian Betvam, Turkish Alanyaspor and Belarusian TSOR. Russia is represented by the national team and the Lokomotiv club, which includes players from 10 countries.
Vitaly Pogodin, President of FC Lokomotiv, stressed that the club had done a lot of preparatory work to organize the competition.
On July 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an address to the participants of the opening of the III International Multisport Tournament "Games of the Future" in Astana, called Russia one of the leading sports powers of the planet, the birthplace of great athletes, records and victories. According to him, the main mission of the tournament is to promote the development of a person who is open to progress and knows modern technologies.
