The Foreign Ministry pointed to Europe's preparations for war with Russia

The countries of the European Union (EU) are openly preparing for war with Russia. This was announced on July 31 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, commenting on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statement on Germany's joining France's nuclear deterrence exercises.

"The Europeans are preparing for war with Russia. They don't hide it. They speak publicly," the diplomat told reporters, quoted by TASS.

Grushko also added that information about the militarization of Europe and, in particular, Germany, is not new to Russia. He stressed that Moscow sees the mood in the EU and will adjust its plans in accordance with this. At the same time, the deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation called the "silence of the lambs" of the rest of Europe amazing.

On July 30, Russian Ambassador to Norway Nikolai Korchunov said that the object of deterrence in Europe should not be Russia, but NATO and Germany with its revanchist-militaristic ambitions. The diplomat recalled that such aspirations of the German authorities in the last century twice led to tragic consequences for Russia, Europe and the whole world.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, noted on July 29 that Merz, if he claims to lead his country in Europe, should be prepared to answer for his words. The minister added that Russia is once again opposing Nazism. According to him, the country is fighting against "direct followers and descendants of the Nazis."
