- VTB broker noted the growing interest of retail investors in long-term investments in stocks
The volume of net purchases of shares by VTB My Investments customers in the second quarter of 2026 increased almost sixfold compared to the first, despite a seasonal decrease in total trading turnover. This was reported by analysts of the VTB broker.
According to experts, the change in dynamics is due to the transition of retail investors from speculative trading to long-term accumulation of positions in stocks.
In the second quarter, the main demand fell on the securities of the largest Russian companies. Lukoil, Gazprom and Sberbank provided more than 60% of the net purchases among the ten most popular stocks. VTB Broker believes that investors are increasingly opting for issuers with a stable business model and dividend potential.
Andrey Yatskov, Head of the Brokerage Services Department at VTB Bank, noted that a change in investor behavior usually occurs when investors begin to focus more on the medium-term prospects of the market than on short-term price fluctuations.
"The concentration of purchases in blue chips is a signal of a possible reassessment of priorities, when quality and dividend yield are more important than volatile ideas," Yatskov said.
