The European Union (EU) has expressed serious concern that wildfires could engulf almost the entire territory of Europe. This was reported on July 31 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing relevant experts.
"There is a risk that "the whole of Europe will be on fire," the newspaper quoted Maria Zuber, head of the EU Coordination Center for Emergency Response, as saying.
According to FT, Guillermo Rein, a professor at Imperial College London, warned that the exhaustion of national resources, primarily aviation technology, could deprive EU countries of the opportunity to provide mutual support, which "will significantly reduce Europe's ability to extinguish the largest forest fires."
