The expert spoke about the new starting point for young professionals

Mastery of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is gradually becoming one of the key requirements for novice specialists. Employers increasingly expect candidates to have not only basic professional knowledge, but also the ability to apply neural networks to real-world work tasks. Kristina Ibragimova, commercial director of the service for automating work with freelancers at Solar Staff, told Izvestia about this on August 30.

According to the expert, the usual way of entering the profession has changed: the tasks that novice employees used to gain first experience are now increasingly performed by neural networks or specialists who already own AI tools.

"AI is changing the requirements for entry positions. Some of the routine tasks that junior specialists used to gradually enter the profession are now being shut down by neural networks. Previously, a novice could be assigned to compile a table or find data for primary analytics. Today, they expect something else from him: to set the task of the neural network, check the result, find the error and bring the material to working quality," explained Ibragimova.

She noted that AI competencies are not limited to the ability to make queries for neural networks. For employers, it is more important for an employee to understand the task, evaluate the limitations of technology, verify the result, and take into account data security issues.

According to the expert, artificial intelligence is also changing the distribution of work processes within companies. Specialists with such skills are becoming in demand in the tasks of automating reporting, preparing analytics, creating content, testing hypotheses and optimizing internal processes.

In some cases, it is more profitable for a business to attract an external specialist with the necessary expertise than to develop such competence within the team for a long time. This contributes to the growth of project employment, which is becoming one of the ways for young professionals to get their first professional cases.

This format is becoming especially relevant for representatives of generation Z. By reducing the number of simple start—up tasks, aspiring professionals can build a portfolio faster through short projects, internships, and working with small teams, such as in analytics, content, data processing, or process automation.

"AI skills alone will not build a career, but without them it is increasingly difficult for a beginner to get the first tasks. The market is not waiting for a person who just knows how to use a neural network, but a specialist who understands the context, asks the right questions, checks the quality and can explain the result," Ibragimova emphasized.

The expert added that in modern conditions, the ability to work with artificial intelligence is becoming not an additional advantage in a resume, but a part of basic professional literacy for novice specialists.

According to the expert, one of the youngest professions, industrial engineering, is already undergoing a major transformation. If a year ago it was enough for a specialist to understand the features of different neural networks and be able to make effective queries, now employers expect him to understand the economics of using AI.
