On July 31, the head of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Umar Kremlev, commented to Izvestia on the return of the Russian flag and anthem to Russian boxers.
"I am glad that they put an athlete on the podium, not a politician — this proves once again that boxing is for athletes. The flag and the anthem are the heart and soul of every athlete," he said.
The IBA head expressed confidence that at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, boxers from Russia will demonstrate high-quality and spectacular fights to the audience. In addition, Kremlev wished the World Boxing organization good luck in implementing its initiatives.
