250 thousand drivers with a phone in their hands were identified in the Moscow region

Since the beginning of 2026, more than 250,000 cases of phone use while driving cars have been recorded in the Moscow Region. This was announced on Thursday, July 30, according to the press service of the regional Ministry of Transport.

Since the beginning of summer, more than 60 thousand such cases have been identified, of which over 17 thousand were in July, the online publication Podmoskovye Segodnya writes. Drivers were most often caught with gadgets in their hands in March (59 thousand), least of all in February (19 thousand).

The agency explained that they record the use of a smartphone while driving for the safety of all road users. The road requires full concentration, so a second spent on a call or text message can be too expensive.

Earlier it was reported that by the end of 2025, the number of automatic cameras for recording traffic violations in Russia increased by about 500 units. The increase was provided by stationary and mobile complexes, including tablets for recording parking violations.
