Deliveries of passenger car tires to Russia from China have become record-breaking since 2015

Deliveries of passenger car tires from China to Russia in June 2026 doubled year-on-year, both in units and in money. The result shown turned out to be a record for the month, based on all available data from Chinese customs since 2015. This was reported by Kommersant on July 30.

In just one month, 2.99 million tires worth $85 million were imported into the country. Compared to May, exports increased 1.8 times in units and 1.9 times in money. In the first half of the year, shipments in units increased by 60% (to 12.7 million tires), and in money — by up to 40% (to $322 million).

According to the interlocutors of the publication, the June increase in supplies may be the result of a special protective investigation launched in May regarding passenger cars and light truck tires imported into the EAEU. Experts consider another reason to be the favorable exchange rate, which allows importers to maintain high earnings.

It is also noted that a sharp increase in imports in the future may provoke an excess of stocks. As noted by Ikon Tyres, the domestic tire market continues to experience high pressure from importers.

In April, major car tire manufacturers asked the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to protect the Russian market from increasingly increasing imports, mainly from China. The investigation may lead to the introduction of quotas or duties on imports in the amount of about 30%. China accounts for about 75% of shipments, mainly budget segment tires.

Also in the spring, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) requested information from Russian tire manufacturers on production and supply volumes for 2025, as well as exports.
