Political scientist Ruslan Pankratov expressed the opinion that the demolition of the estate of satirist Mikhail Zadornov in Jurmala is a logical result of Latvia's purposeful state policy to eliminate all Russian from public space.

Pankratov believes that the incident testifies to the selective approach of the Latvian authorities to the preservation of cultural heritage.
