The expert spoke about the reasons for Russians' extra spending on weekends
Most Russians face spontaneous expenses on weekends: most often, additional expenses are associated with eating out, entertainment, and shopping for themselves and at home. This was reported to Izvestia on August 2 by analysts of the financial marketplace "Choose.<url>" based on the results of a survey of 3 thousand Russians aged 18 to 65 years.
According to the study, 64% of participants admitted that they spend more than planned on Saturday and Sunday. The most common category of unplanned expenses was meals outside the home, followed by purchases for recreation and leisure, clothing, cosmetics and household goods.
Analysts have found that the main factor of additional expenses remains the availability of free time. Russians are also more likely to exceed their budget due to meetings with friends and relatives, discounts and special offers.
"Free time remains the main factor in spontaneous spending. 36% of the survey participants chose this answer," the analysts of <url> noted.
At the same time, almost half of the Russians surveyed do not determine in advance the amount they are willing to spend on a day off. Some participants set an approximate limit, and some plan a budget for almost every purchase or trip.
The study showed that Russians between the ages of 25 and 34 are most prone to spontaneous spending. Among them, 73% of respondents reported regular unplanned purchases. Sales and marketing employees are more likely to encounter this habit.
Shopping malls remain the main place for impulsive purchases, but a significant part of Russians also make unplanned expenses on marketplaces, in cafes and restaurants, during trips and events.
After the weekend, 46% of the study participants review their budget for the rest of the month to compensate for additional expenses. Another part of Russians do not change their financial plans or reduce spending over the next weekend.
Ksenia Lychagina, an international marketer, said on July 30 that the cost of goods and services is increasingly changing throughout the day due to the introduction of dynamic pricing, in which businesses take into account demand, seasonality, competitors' actions and other market factors. Dynamic pricing is a strategy in which the cost of a product is adjusted depending on current market conditions.
