In honor of the 87th anniversary of VDNH, guided tours, a retro car festival, an opera concert, lectures and other events will be held on the territory of the exhibition. The program started today and will last until August 2, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.
"Every year, VDNH welcomes millions of Muscovites and tourists, impressing with its scale as a museum and exhibition complex and at the same time offering a variety of formats of active and educational recreation. We have prepared a rich program for the 87th anniversary of the exhibition, and we invite you," said Sergunina.
Residents and guests of the capital are invited to join walking tours. One of them, scheduled for August 1, will be devoted to the transformation of VDNKH in recent years, the other to the architecture of the iconic pavilions of the complex. It will be held on August 1 and 2. Over the weekend, the Mock-Up of Moscow pavilion will tell about the history of the exhibition from its opening in 1939 to its large-scale relaunch in 1954.
One of the main events will be the Promotion Festival, which can be visited from July 30 to August 2. The exhibition features more than 300 cars, from retro models to modern models, including the revived Volga, the new Moskvich and the serial Atom.
On August 2, the concert "On the Turns of Opera Classics" will take place in the State Museum-Reserve of Leo Tolstoy. The program includes works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Mikhail Glinka. On August 1 and 2, the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center will host thematic guided tours and a lecture-concert about music in science fiction films.
Pre-registration is required to participate in most events. The terms of the visit are available on the complex's website.
