Russians named the cost of manicure for the year

Manicure has become a regular expense item for many Russians: in a year, the cost of the procedure for some women reaches tens of thousands of rubles and is comparable to the cost of a smartphone, household appliances or a trip across Russia. This is the conclusion reached by the analysts of the <url> financial marketplace. Izvestia reviewed the study on August 3.

According to the survey, more than half of the participants get manicures at least once a month. At the same time, 32% visit the master more than once a month, and 28% — once a month. Another 18% apply for the service every two to three months, 12% get manicured several times a year, and 8% visit a specialist only before vacations, holidays, or important events. Only 2% of the respondents completely refused the procedure.

Most women prefer to trust nail care specialists. Thus, 63% of the respondents visit beauty salons, 24% turn to private craftsmen, and 13% of the study participants get manicures on their own.

Even a possible increase in the cost of the procedure will not force most women to completely abandon manicure. If the price of the service increases by 30%, 26% of the respondents will continue to visit the master with the same frequency. Another 28% will look for a more affordable specialist, 19% will get manicures less often, and 19% will switch to home care. Only 8% of the respondents are ready to completely abandon the procedure.

The new GOST regulates the time and sequence of actions of the manicure or pedicure master.

The main reason for regular visits remains the perception of manicure as part of self-care. 39% of the study participants believe so. Another 33% perceive the procedure as habitual, but optional. At the same time, 16% called manicure an unnecessary waste, and 12% consider it a luxury.

The cost of one procedure for most Russians is several thousand rubles. Thus, 39% of respondents spend from 2 thousand to 3 thousand rubles on manicure, 27% pay less than 2 thousand rubles, and 18% choose procedures that cost from 3 thousand to 5 thousand rubles. More expensive care is chosen by 10% of women — they pay from 5,000 to 7,000 rubles for a manicure, and another 6% spend more than 7,000 rubles per procedure.

With regular visits to the master, the expenses for the year become a significant budget item. For most of the study participants, a manicure costs 30-50 thousand rubles per year, an amount comparable to the cost of a new mid—range smartphone. Another 10% of women spend 60-80 thousand rubles a year on nail care. These funds could be used for the purchase of household appliances or a short trip around Russia.

Representatives of the financial sector and IT are willing to spend the most on expensive procedures. Among them, 28% choose a manicure that costs from 3 thousand rubles and above. In the field of marketing and advertising, 25% of respondents choose this option, 23% among businesswomen, and 11% among housewives.

On March 4, Rosstandart approved a new interstate standard for nail services, which subsequently became effective in Russia from the end of April 2026. It has developed maps for a variety of services, including manicures, pedicures, hand and foot skin care, as well as strengthening and modeling artificial nails, decorative coating and removal of materials.
