The winter holidays of Russian schoolchildren in the new academic year will last one day less than in the previous one. This follows from the production calendar data provided by TASS.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, students will have holidays from December 31 to January 10, whereas a year earlier the holidays were held from December 31 to January 11.

The next academic year starts on September 1 of this year and ends on May 26, 2027.

Margarita Bogdanova-Shemraeva, Director of the HR Department of the Russian society Znanie, said on July 18 that in 2026, the last working day of December without cuts would be on the 30th, while December 31 would be a day off. The expert noted that the day off on December 31, 2026 was set due to the postponement of the rest day from January 4. At the same time, the last day of December does not apply to official non-working holidays fixed in Russian legislation.
