An explosion occurred at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Egyptian port of Damietta during cargo unloading, British distributor Inchcape Shipping Services reported on July 29.

It is noted that the local authorities promptly responded to the incident, the situation was brought under control.

"The vessels involved were safely diverted outside the port area. It is expected that by nightfall, port operations will resume at other berths and terminals," the report says.

Additional information is still unknown.

On July 22, the China Daily newspaper reported a powerful explosion on a container ship in the Yanglo port of Wuhan, with one crew member missing. The incident in the aft compartment caused a fire and several containers to fall into the water. As the newspaper noted, in connection with the incident, the terminal's control center decided to suspend all operations at the port.
