The harvest of early peaches has begun in Sevastopol

The harvest of early varieties of peaches has started in Sevastopol. During the season, local farms expect to receive 282 tons of fruit, the press service of the regional government reported on Wednesday, July 29.

Work is underway at four enterprises from mid-July to the end of August. Last winter there were late frosts, but farmers fumigated the gardens and were able to save the future harvest.

Farmers are currently harvesting the Collins and Black Princess varieties, which are characterized by a maroon color and juicy flesh with sourness. The variety is good for shipping to other regions. So far, only ripe fruits have been removed from the trees, as they ripen unevenly due to the weather.

So, at the Artvin farm, 90 hectares have been allocated for peaches: 60 are bearing fruit, and another 30 are young trees. Ripe fruits have already been delivered to the city markets. Hard varieties are shipped to Crimea and other regions.

As noted by SevastopolMedia, the garden area has been growing in recent years. This was made possible thanks to government support. So, since 2019, almost 116 million rubles have been allocated for planting and caring for trees.

Earlier it was reported that more than 130 tons of strawberries are planned to be harvested in Sevastopol. In one of the farms, the berry is grown to a mix of classical and electronic music to cheer up both the plants and the employees of the enterprise.
