Mishustin appreciated the coverage of applications for tax payments for families
3.4 million Russians applied for a tax payment for families with two or more children, which reduces the personal income tax rate to 6%. This was announced on July 29 by Daniil Egorov, Head of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) of Russia, at a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
"The head of the service reported on the implementation of a payment that reduces the personal income tax rate for parents in families with two or more children to 6%. It has been operational since June 1. All incoming applications are processed in a few hours. As of today, information on 3.4 million citizens has been transferred to the Social Fund," the press service of the Federal Tax Service reports on its website.
Egorov noted that the system of providing tax benefits is working proactively. According to him, now 98% of citizens who are eligible for benefits receive them automatically.
This year, 36 million people have been granted benefits in the amount of 118 billion rubles for 2025. To do this, the Federal Tax Service receives the necessary data from 17 federal agencies, the accuracy of the information is 99.9%, the agency assured.
The head of the service also said that in the first half of 2026, revenues to the budget system of the Russian Federation amounted to 31 trillion rubles, which is 8% higher than last year. Revenues of regional budgets increased by 8%, and the federal budget — by 6%, or by 765 billion rubles.
According to Egorov, 90% of budget revenues were non-resource revenues, which increased by 25%. In addition, changes to the Tax Code regarding an increase in the VAT rate from 20% to 22% brought 426 billion rubles to the budget in the first six months of 2026.
The head of the Federal Tax Service also said that in the first half of the year, 68 billion rubles were returned to citizens through a simplified procedure for obtaining tax deductions for treatment, training and fitness. The volume of returned property deductions for this period amounted to 325 billion rubles.
State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev said on July 6 that starting in 2026, parents with many children can enjoy tax and other state benefits until the child reaches the age of 23, subject to full-time education, whereas previously these benefits were discontinued after adulthood.
One of the key measures to support large families is the payment of up to 450 thousand rubles to repay the mortgage, which is provided at the birth of a third or subsequent child in the period from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2030, while funds are directly sent to the bank to reduce loan debt.
