On July 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Olga Abramova, Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as interim head of the Udmurt Republic. She replaced Alexander Brechalov, whose early resignation was accepted on the same day. About her career, education and path in government — in the material of Izvestia.

Early years

Olga Viktorovna Abramova was born on November 23, 1981 in the village of Sigaevo, Sarapulsky district, Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. She graduated from the Sarapul Agricultural and Economic College with a degree in economics, accounting and control. Then she studied at the Udmurt State University under the professional retraining program "Fundamentals of Jurisprudence and Russian Legislation", at the Ural Academy of Public Administration with a degree in State and Municipal Management, as well as at the Moscow Institute of Economics, Statistics and Informatics with a degree in accounting, analysis and audit.

She started her career in 2004 as the head of the correspondence department of the Sarapul Agricultural and Economic College. From 2006 to 2008, she worked as Chief economist, and then as General Director of Agroindustrial Company Udmurtia LLC in Sarapul. In 2006-2009, she was a deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Sarapulsky District municipality.

In 2009, she held the position of Executive Director of the SPSSPOK Zavyalovsky. From 2009 to 2012, she worked as the Head of the Economics Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Udmurt Republic. In 2012-2014, she was the head of the secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Udmurtia. From 2014 to 2016, he was Deputy Head of the Department of Integrated Agricultural Development at Komos Group LLC. From 2016 to 2018— he was the General Director of Agrocomplex Babinsky LLC.

Work in the Government of Udmurtia

In 2018, Abramova joined the civil service from the commercial sector. On February 1, 2018, Brechalov, who was then the head of Udmurtia, appointed her acting Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic. Brechalov noted that Abramova is "a specialist with extensive experience who has devoted more than ten years of her life to the development of the agro—industrial complex of the republic."

She served as minister until 2020, after which she began combining this position with the duties of Deputy chairman of the regional government. In December 2021, she was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the agro-industrial complex, and in 2023 she became the first Deputy Prime Minister of the republic. In July 2024, after the departure of the former chairman of the Government of Udmurtia Yaroslav Semenov to the Military Construction Company, Abramova was appointed acting Prime Minister of the region.

During Abramova's time in the government of the republic, a record amount of funds was raised under the integrated rural development program, Udmurtia ranked sixth in the country in this indicator. With her participation, two "ready villages of the future" appeared in the region.

Transfer to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and appointment of the acting head of Udmurtia

At the end of September 2024, Abramova announced her decision to leave the government of Udmurtia. Then Brechalov thanked her for her work and noted the high results. Since October 2024, Abramova has been appointed Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. In this position, she, in particular, was a member of the livestock and breeding section of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Agriculture, participated in workshops on the development of livestock breeding and the creation of agrobiotechnoparks, visited agricultural universities and enterprises in the regions.

On July 29, 2026, Putin accepted the early resignation of the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, and appointed Olga Abramova interim head of the republic. Her tasks will include the leadership of the region until the new elections of the head of Udmurtia are held.
