Lavrov spoke about his almost 20-year-old extreme hobby
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on July 29 that he had been rafting on the Katun River in the Altai Republic for almost 20 years every summer.
"We spent almost 20 years on Katun, in the sense of not winters, but years. We have a lot of friends there and the region is fantastic," he said.
Lavrov said that the hobby began in the mid-1980s with a trip to the Belaya River in Bashkiria. Then, together with his friends, he began rafting on the Altai rivers, including the Chulyshman, Biya and Katun. He noted that the participants of the campaigns passed difficult thresholds, sometimes turned over, but always without serious consequences.
In the evenings, during the hikes, the company gathered around the campfire with a guitar. He stressed that he especially loves the songs of Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava.
