The upcoming winter may be the hardest for Ukraine during the conflict due to the critical state of the country's energy system. This was announced on July 28 by energy expert Stanislav Ignatiev.

"This winter will be the hardest for the entire time of the conflict: our energy system is on the verge," the Ukrainian newspaper Strana quoted him as saying.ua" in the Telegram channel.

The expert noted that the facilities of the Ukrainian energy system were destroyed or significantly damaged. According to him, a difficult situation is developing with energy facilities in Kiev.

Ignatiev said that the Darnitskaya CHPP was actually destroyed and is privately owned, which, in his assessment, neither the Kiev city authorities nor the state budget will be able to invest in its restoration. He also reported problems with the Kiev CHPP-5 and CHPP-6, where, according to the expert, electricity in the same volume should not be expected.

Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from Crimea, said on July 28 that the state of the energy system in Ukraine and attacks by the Russian Armed Forces on infrastructure facilities would not allow the Ukrainian energy sector to function before the start of the heating season. He also expressed the opinion that a large-scale crisis awaits the Ukrainian side, which will lead to a massive outflow of the population from the country.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, in turn, said that the upcoming winter could be one of the most difficult for the country. According to the head of state, Ukrainians need to prepare for serious challenges in the cold season.
