Udmurtia has increased the production of insulating material for the automotive industry

Izhevsk Plastics Plant has launched a new line for the production of physically crosslinked foamed polyethylene, which will increase production by 15% per year. The products are used in the automotive industry, as well as for the production of building materials, products for sports and tourism, packaging and other fields. This was reported to Izvestia on July 29 by the Industrial Development Fund (EDF).

Investments in the project amounted to about 300 million rubles. Of these, 177.4 million rubles were provided by the Federal Reserve Fund and another 19.7 million rubles were provided by the Udmurt Entrepreneurship Development Fund. The loan funds were used to purchase modern equipment for the production of foamed polyethylene: extrusion lines, a foaming furnace, an electron accelerator, a compounding line, a compressor and transformers. After reaching the design capacity, the company plans to increase its share in the domestic market, partially replacing imported solutions.

Foamed polyethylene is a porous polymer material with high sound insulation properties. As explained in the FRP, due to the cross-linked cell structure, the material easily copes with mechanical loads and has improved hydro, steam and thermal insulation characteristics. It is noted that mainly domestic raw materials are used in the production of polyurethane foam.

In the automotive industry, the material is used as seals, vibration protection, noise and thermal insulation. Among the customers are LiAZ, NefAZ, MAZ, AvtoVAZ, GAZ Group, KamAZ and other companies producing automotive components.
