Lawyers have sued the president of Argentina over his trip to Brazil.
Two Argentine lawyers have filed a criminal complaint against Argentine President Javier Miley, accusing him of possible misuse of public funds and dereliction of official duties. This was reported by the Ambito newspaper on July 27.
"The complaint says that the president used 'the presidential plane, the official retinue and public funds' to participate in an opposition event in the Federal Republic of Brazil in support of the candidacy of [Senator] Flavio Bolsonaro, which represents an inappropriate use of public resources," the publication says.
It is clarified that his lawyers accused him of possible embezzlement of public funds and violation of official duties. According to them, the official trip of the head of state to Brazil to participate in an event of a political movement associated with Bolsonaro was actually of a party nature and was paid for from the budget.
On July 14, Reuters reported that the brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, David Sanchez, was found guilty of an administrative offense in a case involving public office in 2017. Now a relative of the head of the Spanish government is prohibited from holding any public office for a period of nine years.
