The Russian military told about the defense of Belitsky by Azov militants
The militants of the Azov group (recognized as a terrorist organization, banned in Russia), the National Guard of Ukraine and other elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) held the defense in Belitsky in the Donetsk People's Republic. On July 26, Alexander Safiulin, the military commander of Izvestia, was told about this by the head of intelligence of the 51st combined arms army of the Center group of forces with the call sign Apostol.
"We were confronted by a unit of the first Azov corps, the 14th, 15th, and 20th brigades. The enemy was focused on holding this line, constantly increasing the units of unmanned systems. Our task was to isolate the battlefield area and disrupt the rotation, which we successfully accomplished," he said.
According to Apostol, the military created a zone in which the enemy could no longer move by vehicle, and foot groups were detected by calculations of FPV drones. This allowed the stormtroopers to gain a foothold in the village, take the main intersections and areas into isolation and conduct a quarter-by-quarter sweep. The liberation of Belitsky opens up the opportunity to move west in the direction of Dobropillya.
On July 22, the Russian Army liberated the Belitskoye settlement of the DPR. The Russian Defense Ministry added that the military continues to search for Ukrainian soldiers in the city, who are hiding alone in the basements of buildings. Military personnel of the Vega reconnaissance and attack drones of the special forces unit of the Center group of forces isolated the combat area near Belitsky. The destruction of logistics routes and disruption of the supply system of the troops, as well as the destruction of attack drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, contributed to the successful actions to liberate the settlement.
