Five people were killed in a bus collision in Peru.
In southern Peru, two buses collided on July 25, killing at least five people and injuring 16 others. This was reported by the Associated Press agency, citing statements from the authorities.
It is specified that the head-on collision occurred on the southern Pan-American highway in the city of Tacna, near the border with Chile.
Eddy Vicente, director of the Hipolito Unanue Hospital in Tacna, told reporters that most of the injured were in stable condition, while a 24-year—old man was in serious condition with multiple fractures.
The cause of the accident is not yet clear.
According to experts, traffic control in Peru is weak, and emergency assistance is being provided "slowly and unorganized." Official figures show that 3,428 people died in road accidents in the country in 2025.
On the same day, as a result of a large-scale collision of two passenger buses on the strategic Syrian highway Deir ez-Zor – Damascus, at least 35 people were killed, and 30 more citizens were injured in various degrees of severity.
