The Ministry of Internal Affairs will transfer certain powers of the Ministry of Labor in the field of labor migration

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law transferring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation the powers of the Ministry of Labor to approve the lists of professions of qualified foreign specialists. The document was published on July 25 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

According to the document, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be able to determine which foreign specialists are eligible for a simplified residence permit and employment outside the quotas established by the Ministry of Labor by region.

Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Labor, will be able to allow foreigners to work not only in the region where the permit was issued, but also in other regions of the Russian Federation, taking into account the economic ties between them.

The document was finally approved by the State Duma on July 7, signing a law on the transfer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Labor to approve the lists of professions of qualified foreign specialists. The purpose of the initiative was to strengthen state control over labor migration and restore order in this area through the centralization of management in the law enforcement agency.
