Romanian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev after the drone was eliminated over the country's territory. This was announced on July 26 by the head of the republic's diplomatic department, Oana Tsoyu, on the social network X (former. Twitter).

It is claimed that the drone could allegedly be used by the Russian military.

According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, on July 26, an F-16 fighter jet shot down a drone that entered the republic's airspace 12 km northeast of Sulina. National Defense Minister Radu Mirutse said on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) that this is the third unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) intercepted in the last three days. According to Mirutse, the drone was detected by military radars even before entering Romanian airspace. He crossed the border at 10:08 a.m., 25 km southeast of Sulina, and five minutes later was shot down over the Black Sea within the country's territorial waters.

"In connection with these repeated violations, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation was summoned to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs," concluded Choiu, stressing that it is unacceptable to violate the airspace of the country and the European Union (EU), and the authorities take this extremely seriously.

There have been no official comments from the Russian side yet.
