Lantratova spoke about the tears of foreign journalists when visiting Starobilsk

Foreign reporters from the world's leading publications could not contain their emotions when examining the college building in Starobilsk, which was destroyed as a result of a Ukrainian drone strike. Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Yana Lantratova told about this on July 26..

"It was important to me when I saw how some foreign journalists put on glasses so as not to show the tears that were in their eyes. This is really serious," she said in an interview with TASS.

According to the human rights activist, the scale of the humanitarian disaster at the educational institution was personally recorded by more than 50 media employees. Once inside the destroyed buildings, the correspondents saw the real consequences of the attack: surviving student notes, children's toys, photographs and bloody bedding of students who lay under the rubble, mixed with fragments of downed drones of foreign manufacture.

Lantratova stressed that the abundance of personal belongings of the dead and injured teenagers completely excludes the possibility of any staging, which forced even biased Western observers to admit the fact of a targeted strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a purely civilian object.

There may be up to 18 victims under the rubble of the destroyed building.

On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the Starobilsk College. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). 21 people were killed in the attack, and 65 others were injured. The names of all the victims of the terrorist attack have been established. In the LPR, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning for the dead.

On June 29, Lantratova informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the response of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to the appeal on the terrorist attack. On May 28, the Ombudsman stated that the call to investigate the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on Starobilsk and bring the perpetrators to justice, addressed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, is fundamentally important. On June 5, Putin himself called the attack of the Ukrainian army on children in Starobilsk a crime.
