Peskov commented on Orban's Russian quote from Chernyshevsky

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 26 that he was surprised that former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban suddenly spoke Russian.

"I think, to be honest, he just quoted the title of the piece. He is an educated man," he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Peskov explained that all previous negotiations with the Hungarian side were conducted through an interpreter, and the Kremlin had never heard any expressions or phrases in Russian from Orban himself.

Orban, assessing the current situation in Hungary, quoted the title of Nikolai Chernyshevsky's novel "What to Do?" in Russian the day before. He did this while delivering his annual speech in the Romanian city of Baile Tushnad. Then the politician summarized his speech in Russian and asked a rhetorical question.
