A fire broke out in a children's camp in the Czech Republic

In the small village of Otrochineves in the central part of the Czech Republic, a fire broke out in a children's camp, which required the evacuation of 71 people. This was reported by the CTK news agency on July 25, citing Teresa Sikora-Fliegerova, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department of the Central Bohemian Region.

"The fire engulfed a wooden log cabin, a canopy and part of the forest. Firefighters evacuated 40 children and 31 adults <...> The flames caused damage of 900 thousand crowns ($42 thousand — Ed.), the cause was a technical malfunction of the chimney," the spokeswoman said.

Firefighters declared the second of four degrees of fire danger. The children were taken out of the camp to the municipal building, where they were waiting for their parents.

It is specified that the fire was brought under control about an hour after the call was received. A local volunteer unit will guard the site until Sunday morning, July 26.

"Members of the post—traumatic care group brought small construction kits for the children, which helped the vacationers forget about the unpleasant experience," added Sikora-Fliegerova.
