The "Race of Heroes" in Mendeleevsk will be held in the "From dawn to dusk" format

The fifth anniversary "Race of Heroes" is taking place in Mendeleevsk on July 25, having gathered, according to preliminary data, about 5 thousand participants and thousands of spectators. The competitions are held in the "From dawn to dusk" format: participants started at 3 a.m. and finish only in the evening at 22:00.

This year's updated concept has completely changed the theme of the competition. The local Hero Race track remains the longest in Russia among similar projects and has over 40 obstacles. Each stage is decorated in a single style: if last year it was a "Battle of the Ages", immersing participants in different historical periods, now athletes and spectators are waiting for the atmosphere of Mexico and Robert Rodriguez's cult film "From Dusk till Dawn", which turns 30 years old.

In the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, part of the exhibition is dedicated to the culture of different nationalities of the country. For some stages, real helicopters, trams and locomotives were brought to Mendeleevsk — they became part of the tests.

"We take a comprehensive approach to each concept. This distinguishes our "Hero Race" from any other that take place in the country. We stylize obstacles, select a themed food court for guests, and interactive platforms," said Yuri Razbezhkin, Deputy General Director of Ammonium JSC.

The race includes a corporate championship with a prize fund (150 thousand rubles for first place), a charity race on a new 100-meter track and competitions for costumed platoons (prize — 50 thousand rubles). Art objects (writers' tram, Mendeleev's locomotive, heroes' bus) have become stationary points of attraction for tourists.

The Garage Fest festival took place on the weekend of July 18 and 19 at the Igora Drive autodrome in the Leningrad Region. One of his main events was the endurance race, where strategy, stability and character decided everything. During these two days, the festival was attended by thousands of guests from all over the country, professional pilots and racing enthusiasts — all those for whom the roar of the engine is like a balm to the soul.
