Against the background of a large-scale crisis, the authorities of the republic announced an emergency mobilization of civilian medical infrastructure to rescue the surviving passengers. Syrian Minister of Higher Education Marwan Al-Halabi said that, guided by national and humanitarian duty, his department ordered all university hospitals in all provinces of the country to go on maximum alert.
He specified that, in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and relevant services, university clinics have deployed all staff and resources to promptly receive injured people in road accidents and provide them with the highest level of emergency medical services.
On May 26, an accident involving a school bus and a passenger train occurred in the Belgian municipality of Buggenhout, resulting in several deaths. After a collision with the train, the bus, in which, in addition to the driver himself, there were seven schoolchildren and one accompanying person, overturned.
