A man was arrested in the Omsk region for the murder of a cohabitant and a taxi driver.

In the Omsk region, a court has detained a local resident accused of brutally murdering his roommate and assaulting a taxi driver. On July 25, the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation announced the decision to send the defendant to a pre-trial detention center.

"Currently, the defendant has been charged with the murder of two women, and at the initiative of the investigation, he has been given a preventive measure in the form of detention. The investigators conducted inspections of the incident sites, seized physical evidence, as well as the murder weapon, a knife, and ordered forensic and forensic examinations," the agency said in a statement posted on its website.

According to investigators, a 29-year-old resident of Omsk became jealous of his 42-year-old roommate while drinking alcohol and stabbed her to death in a rented apartment. A few days later, the attacker called a taxi and attacked the girl at the wheel with a cold weapon during the trip. The victim managed to activate the alarm button, but died on the spot from multiple wounds.

Emergency services personnel who arrived at the navigation signal found a car that had driven into the trees and detained the injured suspect right at the crime scene, after which investigators opened the apartment of the first victim, whose disappearance was reported by relatives.

A source in Izvestia reported on June 24 that a Muscovite had killed and dismembered his sister as a result of the conflict. The GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the capital noted that packages containing the body of a woman with severed limbs were found in an apartment building on Znamenskaya Street. Later, the accused was detained.
