The restoration of Levenson's summer cottage in Novo-Peredelkino has begun.

The restoration of Levenson's cottage, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, has begun in Novo-Peredelkino. This was announced on Friday, July 24, by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

According to him, this is the only surviving wooden building designed by architect Fyodor Shekhtel. The cottage of the book publisher Alexander Levenson was built in the early 20th century and is considered an architectural monument in the Art Nouveau style.

Sobyanin noted that after the revolution, several families lived in the house for decades, then the building was empty for a long time, and in the 1990s it was already undergoing restoration, the Moscow City News agency reports.

During the new work, specialists will clean the facades of old coatings, treat the wood with protective compounds, restore the brickwork of the basement, replace the tow in the log cabin, and also restore the polychrome painting of the architraves and the weather vane in the form of a Sirin bird, Moscow 24 notes. Trees and shrubs will be planted in the surrounding area to recreate the atmosphere of a country estate at the beginning of the 20th century. After the restoration is completed, a museum dedicated to the work of Fyodor Shekhtel is planned to open in the building, the website writes kp.ru .
